Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from Nairobi or Mombasa (or nearby coastal
towns like Diani or Malindi). The journey to Tsavo East takes approximately 4–6 hours depending on
your starting point. Enjoy scenic views of Kenya’s countryside en route. Upon arrival at the park’s
Bachuma Gate (or Voi Gate), you’ll immediately start your first short game drive en route to your lodge
or camp. Check in at your safari lodge or tented camp in time for lunch. After settling in and enjoying a
hearty meal, take some time to relax and soak in the wilderness atmosphere. Many lodges overlook
waterholes where elephants, antelope, and buffalo frequently gather, offering a preview of the wildlife
experience to come.
Head out around 3:30 PM for a thrilling afternoon game drive. You’ll explore areas along the Galana
River, looking out for hippos, crocodiles, and water birds. The drive may also take you through open
savannahs where you’ll likely encounter elephants coated in red dust, lions resting in the shade, and
herds of giraffe, zebras, and impalas. With luck, you may spot elusive predators like cheetahs or
leopards. Return to camp just before sunset. Enjoy dinner under the stars followed by relaxation around
a bonfire or in the lodge lounge. Overnight at your lodge or tented camp inside or near the park.

Wake up before dawn for a sunrise game drive — the best time to spot predators and observe animals
as they begin their day. Early morning is also perfect for photography, with soft lighting and active
wildlife. Look out for lion prides, buffalo herds, and wildebeests grazing on the plains. Breakfast & Mid-
Morning Rest round mid-morning or early afternoon, and afterword embark on a longer game drive
deeper into the park. Today’s route may take you to Lugard Falls — a series of white water rapids on the
Galana River, named after the British explorer Frederick Lugard. Visit Mudanda Rock, a natural rock
outcrop that provides panoramic views and a watering spot that attracts large numbers of elephants.
Enjoy a packed picnic lunch at one of the designated picnic sites, allowing you more time out in the
bush. You may encounter herds of hartebeest, kudu, oryx, and a rich variety of birdlife including
secretary birds and hornbills.

In the Evening Head back to your accommodation in the evening. After a fulfilling day in the wild, enjoy
a hot shower, a delicious dinner, and a peaceful night under the African sky.

For those eager for one last adventure, a final early morning game drive can be arranged before
breakfast. This is another chance to spot any animals missed earlier and enjoy the park’s tranquility as it
awakens. After breakfast, check out of your lodge or camp. Begin the return journey to Nairobi,
Mombasa, or your onward destination. Depending on your schedule, you may enjoy a final game drive
as you exit the park.
