Your safari begins with an early morning domestic flight from Arusha (or Entebbe via
connection) to Katavi Airstrip, located in the remote western savannahs of Tanzania. Upon
arrival, you’ll be met by your Neste Uganda Safaris driver-guide and transferred to your lodge or
tented camp nestled in the bush. Along the way, enjoy your first glimpses of zebras, giraffes, and
maybe even a few elephants. After settling in and enjoying a freshly prepared lunch, you’ll head
out on your first afternoon game drive in an open 4x4 safari vehicle. Explore the Katisunga
Plain, where predators like lions and hyenas often stalk large herds of buffalo, and keep an eye
out for bushbucks, warthogs, and hartebeests grazing in the tall grasses. As the sun sets over the
horizon, return to camp for dinner under the stars and a restful night surrounded by the sounds of
the African wild.

Rise early with tea or coffee and depart for a sunrise game drive, when wildlife is at its most
active. This morning, you’ll track predators across the Mkata River floodplains, a hotspot for
lion prides, leopards, and jackals. Stop near the Ikuu Bridge—a great vantage point to view
massive pods of hippos, and watch crocodiles bask on the riverbanks. You’ll also likely
encounter large herds of elephants migrating through the forested areas. Return to camp for
brunch or enjoy a picnic bush lunch in a shaded spot along the plains. In the afternoon, continue
your safari in a different part of the park, perhaps the Chada floodplains, famous for its dramatic
predator-prey interactions. Bird lovers will appreciate the abundance of species including storks,
eagles, herons, and more. After another incredible day of wild encounters, return to camp for
dinner and storytelling around the campfire. Optional: night game drive (depending on camp
regulations).

After a light breakfast, set off on your final morning game drive, capturing any last sights of the
animals in the early golden light. This is your chance to revisit a favorite spot or track a specific
species you may have missed—perhaps a roan antelope, sable, or shy eland. Your guide will
interpret tracks, sounds, and behavior to give you a deeper understanding of the park’s
ecosystem. After the drive, return to camp for checkout and transfer to Katavi Airstrip. Your
return scenic flight offers incredible aerial views of Tanzania’s western wilderness—vast,
untouched, and teeming with life. You’ll connect back to Arusha, Dar es Salaam, or Entebbe,
