Queen Elizabeth National Park.
One of the destinations that cannot be described by mere words is Queen Elizabeth national park;
everything about it speaks for itself, right from the name, its location, history and the several activities
done. It is indeed a medley of wonder.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most popular tourist destination due to its diverse
ecosystems, such as the extensive savanna, humid forests, dazzling lakes and wetlands, these factors
make it a perfect habitat for the big game, primate species such as chimpanzees and approximately 600
species of birds.
Positioned at the backdrop of the serrated Rwenzori Mountains, the park’ spectacular views include
dozens of massive craters carved noticeably into the rolling green hills, panoramic views of the Kazinga
Channel with its banks hosting several hippos, elephants and buffalos. The experience doesn’t end until
one has encountered the Tree climbing lions at the endless Ishasha plains not forgetting the gullible
Uganda kob.
Queen Elizabeth national park was initially known as ‘Kazinga National Park’ before it was renamed in
1954 to commemorate a visit by Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain; The Park is located in the western
region of Uganda, with the legs on the district of Kasese, Rubirizi, Kamwenge, and Rukungiri. It is
approximately 400 kilometers by road south-west of Kampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city, Also,
this park also harbors Maramagambo Forest as well as Kigezi Game Reserve, Kyambura Game Reserve,
and Kibale National Park. Other neighboring attractions include the Virunga National Park in the
Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The other beauty about the Kazinga channel is that it has two parts, the North Kazinga, and the Kasenyi,
it is confirmed that the plain of Kazinga channel is a very important point for game viewing. The area
exposes you to the wildlife in its natural habitat, some of the game you have high chances of spotting
include buffalos, elephants, lions and many more, these animals reside in the grassland thickets of the
Northern Kazinga close to Mweya. Also, the best spot to use when in the quest for lions is the eastern
part of Kasenyi plains and the Kasese road where they target on the inhabitants of Uganda Kobs.
It is at the Ishasha sector that tourist encounter the tree climbing lions, this area is roughly 100km south
of Mweya. The area offers a real African wilderness experience as one sight some of the inhabitants in
this place such as savannah woodland, Ishasha River and Lake Edward that harbors numerous Wildlife
species such as the tree climbing lions, rare shoebill stork and many others.
While at Queen, one treasure every guest ought not to miss out is the Mweya peninsular which is the
heart of sightseeing activities with excellent accommodation. AS you explore the distant part of the

A tourist can access queen Elizabeth National park from either Kigali Rwanda or Entebbe international
airport. Secondly, one can either choose to Use a chartered flight or road.
In case of a flight, you will book will need to book your tickets individually or through a travel agent who
will make the whole process very easy and fast. We have flights the set off from either Entebbe airport
or Kanjjansi airstrip to the Kahiihi airstrip. From Rwanda, you can also choose a flight that will land at the
same airstrip.
This park is open to visitors all year round, over, there is more fun when a tourist comes during the peak
season in May to September since all conditions are favorable and the wildlife is more open.
Using the road, a trip that opts for a budget safari can decide to use a bus from preferably Kampala
through to Kasese, but while using a tour company, a tourist will have to make a stopover at the Equator
before proceeding to the southern part of Uganda in Kasese.
In conclusion, there is a reason that though this is one of the oldest National parks in the country, visitor
number is still very large The products in this destination is incomparable to that offered at any other
