After breakfast, you'll be driven from Arusha to Machame Gate, where park formalities are
completed and your trekking team is introduced. The hike begins through lush rainforest, home
to colobus monkeys, tree ferns, and exotic birds. The trail is often muddy but shaded and alive
with the sounds of nature. You’ll gradually ascend to Machame Camp, your first overnight
stop. Hot tea and dinner await, and you'll already feel the crisp mountain air as night falls.

Today’s trek leaves the forest behind and enters the moorland zone, where giant heathers and
volcanic rock dominate the landscape. The trail steepens, offering your first views of the Shira
Plateau and Kibo Peak. You’ll arrive at Shira Camp, set on a high plateau with panoramic vistas.
In the afternoon, you can take a short acclimatization walk before enjoying a hearty dinner under
starry skies.

This is a key acclimatization day. You’ll climb steadily to Lava Tower, a dramatic volcanic
formation at 4,630m, where you'll stop for lunch. The high point challenges your body to adjust
to the altitude. Afterward, you’ll descend into the Barranco Valley, passing strange senecio trees
and dramatic cliffs. Overnight at Barranco Camp, with spectacular views of the Breach Wall and
Mount Meru in the distance.

You’ll start the day by conquering the Barranco Wall, a thrilling scramble (not technical) with
amazing views. Once at the top, follow undulating trails across valleys carved by ancient
glaciers. Arrive at Karanga Camp by early afternoon, giving your body more time to acclimate.

After rest and a warm meal, your guide may suggest a short hike up and back to aid
acclimatization.

Today is a shorter climb but crucial for preparing your body for the summit. The trail ascends
steadily across a barren, wind-swept landscape to Barafu Camp, your base for the summit push.
After an early dinner, you’ll rest in your tent until around midnight, when the summit attempt
begins. Temperatures can drop below freezing, so gear up and get ready for the biggest day of
the trek.

Summit day begins at midnight with a long, slow ascent by headlamp to Stella Point (5,739m),
where the sun will rise spectacularly over the clouds. From here, it’s another hour along the
crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating with photos at the summit
sign, begin your descent back to Barafu Camp for brunch, then continue down to Mweka Camp,
deep in the forest. This is a long, tough day—but immensely rewarding.

Enjoy a final breakfast with your trekking team before a gradual descent through the rainforest to
Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificate. Celebrate with your porters and
guides—you’ve done something incredible.
Transfer back to Arusha, where you can relax in a hotel or enjoy a celebratory dinner. Whether
you continue your adventure with a safari or prepare to depart, you’ll carry the memory of
Kilimanjaro with you forever.
