Depart Nairobi in the morning for a scenic drive through the central highlands, passing rolling hills
covered in tea and coffee plantations. After about 3.5 hours, arrive at Aberdare Country Club for lunch
and check-in formalities. From here, transfer into Aberdare National Park with a short game drive en
route to your tree lodge—either The Ark or Treetops—both uniquely built near waterholes to allow
exceptional wildlife viewing.
Spend the afternoon and evening relaxing at the lodge, where large decks offer views of elephants,
buffaloes, bushbucks, and the occasional leopard as they come to drink at the floodlit waterhole. You
can enjoy game viewing right from your balcony or the lodge’s lounge. Dinner is served at the lodge, and
the night is spent surrounded by the sounds of the forest.

After breakfast, set out for a full-day game drive through the dramatic landscapes of Aberdare National
Park. Traverse thick forest, bamboo zones, and high moorlands in search of the rare bongo antelope,
giant forest hog, elephants, and a variety of bird species. Enjoy the cooler climate and unique terrain,
quite different from the savannahs of other parks.
Stop for a picnic lunch near one of the park’s famous waterfalls—such as Karuru Falls (the tallest in
Kenya), Chania Falls, or Gura Falls—before continuing the game drive in the afternoon. Return to the
lodge by evening for a warm meal, more viewing at the waterhole, and an overnight stay in the tranquil
forest.

Wake up to the fresh air and peaceful ambiance of the Aberdare. After breakfast, enjoy a final short
game drive or optional nature walk (depending on lodge offerings), then check out and transfer back to
Aberdare Country Club. Begin the journey back to Nairobi, arriving by early afternoon with fond
memories of a refreshing highland safari.
