Have a Mid-morning rest stops for snacks and hydration. After approximately 6–7 hours of hiking, you
reach base camp nestled just below the summit zone, surrounded by giant lobelias and senecio plants
typical of East Africa’s alpine regions. The support team sets up tents, prepares hot water for washing,
and starts cooking an early dinner. Temperatures drop significantly here (can dip below 0°C / 32°F at
night), so change into dry, warm clothes immediately upon arrival. Enjoy a hot meal (simple but hearty)
prepared by your cook — often rice, pasta, vegetables, and soup. Early bedtime is encouraged to rest
and acclimatize before the summit attempt the next morning.
