Whether you’re tracking lions across the savannah, watching elephants bathe in Amboseli’s
swamps, or snorkeling with tropical fish in Diani, each day offers a new chapter of adventure.
This itinerary is ideal for travelers who want a well-rounded safari experience with both bush
and beach, offering comfort, culture, and conservation-focused travel.
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you’ll be met by a friendly
representative from Neste Uganda Safaris Ltd and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, relax
after your flight or, if time permits, take an optional excursion to the Giraffe Centre or David
Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, where rescued giraffes and baby elephants offer your first close
encounters with Kenya’s unique wildlife.
Nairobi is a vibrant capital blending modern life with natural wonders. From your hotel, you may
catch a glimpse of the Ngong Hills or visit the Karen Blixen Museum for a bit of colonial-era
history. Your safari guide will meet you this evening to brief you on the adventure ahead — get
ready for a thrilling journey across Kenya’s most celebrated landscapes.
After breakfast, you’ll depart Nairobi and drive through the stunning Great Rift Valley toward
Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. The drive
itself offers sweeping views of escarpments, volcanic hills, and small highland farms along the
way. Upon entering the park, you’re welcomed by lush acacia woodlands and the glistening soda
lake at its center.
Lake Nakuru is renowned for its population of endangered white and black rhinos, which often
graze openly in the grasslands. You'll also spot Rothschild’s giraffes, buffalo, baboons,
waterbucks, and possibly leopards resting in fever trees. The lake, depending on season and
water levels, hosts thousands of flamingos and pelicans — creating a mesmerizing pink hue
along its shores. Bird lovers will enjoy the over 450 species recorded here.
After breakfast, head southwest toward the famous Maasai Mara, passing through scenic valleys
and Maasai settlements along the way. You’ll arrive in time for lunch at your lodge or camp and
then embark on your first afternoon game drive in the Mara’s rich savannahs. The landscape
opens into vast plains dotted with acacia trees — the quintessential African safari setting.
The Maasai Mara is Kenya’s most celebrated game reserve, home to the Big Five and the world-
renowned Great Migration (July–October). Expect sightings of lion prides, elephants, buffalo,
and possibly leopards or cheetahs stalking prey in the golden grasses. You may also see jackals,
hyenas, hippos in the Mara River, and dazzling birdlife such as crowned cranes and secretary
birds. It’s a photographer’s paradise.
Today you’ll enjoy a full day of game viewing, with both morning and afternoon game drives.
Your guide will track movements of predators and prey, allowing you to witness the drama of
the African bush unfold. You may find lions hunting at dawn, elephants gathering at waterholes,
and hyenas cleaning up after a kill. The rolling hills and open plains create ideal viewing
conditions.
If traveling during the migration season, you may witness river crossings, as thousands of
wildebeest and zebras brave crocodile-infested waters. Even outside the migration, the Mara
boasts some of Africa’s highest concentrations of big cats. You’ll break for a bush picnic lunch
under an acacia tree, and later return to your lodge as the sun sets in a fiery glow. Optional visit
to a Maasai village offers cultural insight into their traditions and warrior lifestyle.
After breakfast and a short morning game drive, depart for Amboseli National Park, arriving by
late afternoon. Depending on your travel style, this leg may be done via scheduled flight or
scenic road transfer with picnic lunch en route. You’ll pass through rural Kenya and catch
glimpses of Mount Kilimanjaro as you near the Tanzanian border.
Amboseli offers some of Africa’s most iconic safari scenes — elephants walking beneath
Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peak. Afternoon game drive introduces you to herds of elephants,
often seen up-close as they bathe in the park’s marshes. Look out for lions resting in tall grass,
buffalo roaming in herds, and elegant giraffes browsing along the treeline. The views at sunset
are unforgettable.
Today is a full day of exploration in Amboseli, with morning and afternoon drives across its
dusty plains and swamps. The park is known for its long-tusked elephants, and you’ll likely see
many — including calves — moving in family groups. The seasonal lakes attract numerous bird
species, from flamingos and egrets to grey crowned cranes.
You might also spot cheetahs scanning the horizon from termite mounds, or hyenas emerging in
the early hours. In the drier areas, sightings of gerenuk, eland, and dik-dik are common. A visit
to a local Maasai homestead can be arranged to learn about their culture and how they coexist
with wildlife. Return to your lodge with Kilimanjaro glowing pink in the background.
After an early breakfast and a short final game drive, transfer to the airstrip and fly to Ukunda
(Diani Beach) on the Indian Ocean. You’ll be met at the airport and taken to your beachfront
resort. Settle into a slower pace of life — white sands, turquoise waters, and tropical gardens
welcome you.
Diani Beach is considered one of Africa’s most pristine coastal destinations. Spend your
afternoon swimming in the warm sea, enjoying a beachside cocktail, or taking a walk along the
shore. Most resorts offer spa treatments, beach bars, and spectacular views of the Indian Ocean.
It’s the perfect way to unwind after days of wildlife adventure.
Today you can relax or enjoy a full-day marine excursion. Head out by dhow boat to Kisite-
Mpunguti Marine Park, a coral-rich haven ideal for snorkeling and dolphin watching. The reef is
home to over 250 species of fish, sea turtles, and, with luck, even humpback dolphins. Lunch is
typically served on Wasini Island, with fresh seafood and Swahili flavors. Explore the island’s
quiet villages and mangrove forests, or return for an afternoon at your resort. Optional activities
include scuba diving, kite surfing, or jet skiing. The calm waters and stunning reef systems make
Diani a perfect beach escape.
Enjoy a relaxing beach day or venture out for a cultural tour. You might visit a local Swahili
village, explore the Kaya Kinondo sacred forest, or stop at the colorful markets of Ukunda.
These excursions offer a deeper look at Kenya’s coastal heritage, full of Arab, Bantu, and
Portuguese influences. Alternatively, indulge in a full day of pampering at your resort: massage
therapies, oceanfront yoga, and sunset cocktails on the beach. You’ve earned a peaceful break
after your safari adventures. The day ends with dinner under the stars and the sound of waves
crashing nearby.
After breakfast, say goodbye to the coast and transfer to Ukunda Airstrip for your flight back to
Nairobi. Upon arrival, connect to your international departure or enjoy an optional day-use hotel
depending on flight schedule. As you leave Kenya, you carry memories of golden savannahs,
roaring lions, curious elephants, vibrant coral reefs, and sun-soaked beaches — a journey
through East Africa’s soul, crafted and guided by Neste Uganda Safaris Ltd.
