Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala to Murchison Falls – Rhino Trekking
Start your adventure with breakfast, then embark on a scenic 5-6 hour drive to Murchison Falls National Park. Along the way, stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where rhinos roam freely. Enjoy a one-hour rhino trekking experience, then continue to Masindi Town for lunch. Arrive at Murchison Falls National Park in the evening, check into your lodge, and unwind with dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Game Drive & Boat Cruise
Wake up early for a 3-4 hour game drive in the northern sector of the park, home to over 350 bird species and diverse wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, waterbucks, oribis, and lions. After a bush breakfast, return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise to the base of Murchison Falls, the world’s most powerful waterfall. Witness hippos, crocodiles, and abundant aquatic life. Hike to the top of the falls for breathtaking views, a permanent rainbow, and the roaring waters as the Nile squeezes through a 7-meter gorge. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Murchison to Kibale Forest National Park
Enjoy breakfast before checking out for a 7-9 hour drive to Kibale Forest National Park. En route, admire Uganda’s lush landscapes, green plantations, and traditional African homesteads. Stop for lunch before arriving at your lodge in the evening. Relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for an exciting day ahead.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Swamp Walk
After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. The trek takes 1-5 hours, offering encounters with chimps and other primates in their natural habitat. Observe them feeding, playing, and using tools.
After lunch, visit Bigodi Swamp, a Ramsar wetland sanctuary famous for its colorful birdlife, baboons, and monkeys. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Following breakfast, visit the scenic crater lakes around Fort Portal before proceeding to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an evening game drive to spot nocturnal predators like lions, hyenas, and leopards. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 6: Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
Depart early for a 3-4 hour game drive, seeking iconic mammals such as elephants, buffaloes, zebras, oribis, and lions. Enjoy a bush breakfast, then return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, known for its hippos, crocodiles, and diverse bird species. After this unforgettable experience, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, drive to the Ishasha sector, famous for tree-climbing lions. Spend two hours observing these unique felines before having lunch. Continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, arriving in the evening. Check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Cultural Encounter
Begin your day with an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. The trek, lasting 1-6 hours, offers an opportunity to observe mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Spend a magical one hour watching these gentle giants as they feed, groom, and play.
After lunch, visit the Batwa Pygmies, the indigenous forest people, and learn about their traditional way of life, hunting skills, and cultural dances. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Lake Bunyonyi Relaxation
After breakfast, take a 2-3 hour drive to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Africa’s deepest and most scenic lakes. Arrive and check into your lodge for lunch before enjoying activities such as:
- Canoeing to explore the 29 islands
- Birdwatching
- Swimming in bilharzia-free waters
- Cycling or hiking
Relax with dinner and an overnight stay by the lakeside.
Day 10: Departure
