This 2-day, 1-night wildlife safari is designed to take you through Uganda’s largest and oldest national park, Murchison Falls National Park. The park is known for its mighty waterfall, the Murchison Falls, where water forces its way through a narrow 7-meter gorge, creating one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world. During your stay, you’ll experience the best of Uganda’s wildlife and stunning landscapes, from a boat cruise to the base of the falls to a game drive in search of the Big 5.
Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park & Rhino Trekking
- Arrival: Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you’ll be met by your experienced safari guide who will brief you about the trip.
- Journey: Embark on a 5-6 hour drive to Murchison Falls National Park. During the journey, you’ll pass through busy towns, lush plantations, and rolling hills.
- Stopover: The first stop will be at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you’ll embark on a rhino trekking activity to observe the endangered rhinos. This trek takes approximately 1 hour.
- Lunch: After the rhino trek, head to Masindi town for lunch.
- Arrival at Lodge: After lunch, continue your drive to your lodge where you’ll check in, relax, enjoy dinner, and spend the night.

Day 2: Game Drive, Boat Cruise, Hike to the Top of the Falls & Departure
- Early Morning: Begin your day with a 6am game drive in the northern part of Murchison Falls National Park. The game drive lasts approximately 3-4 hours, and you’ll have the chance to spot the park’s diverse wildlife, including lions, leopards, hyenas, giraffes, warthogs, buffaloes, and many more. Bird enthusiasts will enjoy sightings of egrets, geese, and the grey crowned cranes. Keep an eye out for primates like baboons and various plant species, including the whistling acacia.
- Wilderness Breakfast: Enjoy a wilderness breakfast during the game drive.
- Boat Cruise: After the game drive, embark on a boat cruise to the base of Murchison Falls. During the cruise, you’ll have the opportunity to spot Nile crocodiles, hippos, and different antelope species along the river banks. Don’t forget your camera to capture the thundering falls.
- Hike to the Top of the Falls: After the boat ride, hike to the top of Murchison Falls for another stunning view of the waterfall and the surrounding landscape.
- Lunch and Departure: Return to your lodge for lunch before being transferred back to Kampala for your departure.
