3-Day Murchison Falls National Park Safari

Overview

Embark on an unforgettable 3-day, 2-night safari to Murchison Falls National Park, home to a breathtaking array of wildlife and Africa's most powerful waterfalls. Experience thrilling game drives, a scenic boat cruise, and a nature walk as you explore the diverse ecosystems of this remarkable park. Encounter Africa’s Big Five—African elephants, Cape buffalos, leopards, and lions—alongside other fascinating species such as giraffes, warthogs, Uganda kobs, baboons, and a variety of bird species, including cranes, guinea fowls, cattle egrets, kingfishers, and Egyptian geese. Marvel at the thunderous Murchison and Uhuru Falls, where a permanent rainbow graces the cascading waters. This safari departs from and ends in Kampala or Entebbe International Airport.

Day 1: Pick-up and Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park – Rhino Trekking

Your safari guide will meet you at the designated pick-up location for a scenic 5-6 hour journey to Murchison Falls National Park. En route, you will stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an hour-long trek to observe and photograph these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. Afterward, enjoy a delicious lunch in Masindi Town before continuing to the park. Along the way, take in breathtaking landscapes, lush plantations, and vibrant local towns. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge, relax, and enjoy dinner before an overnight stay.

Day 2: Game Drive, Picnic in the Albert Nile Valley, and Nature Walk

Start the day with an early breakfast before embarking on a 3-4 hour game drive in the northern sector of the park. This excursion offers an incredible opportunity to witness the park’s diverse vegetation and a variety of wildlife, including elephants, buffalos, warthogs, Uganda kobs, giraffes, Jackson’s hartebeests, and jackals. Bird enthusiasts can spot species such as kingfishers, crested cranes, and guinea fowls.

Following the game drive, head to the scenic Albert Nile Valley for a relaxing picnic featuring Uganda’s organic sweet fruits. Capture memorable photos while observing the surrounding wildlife.

Return to the lodge for lunch before setting out on a guided nature walk. This immersive experience allows you to explore the region’s lush flora and fauna, including colorful butterflies and various bird species. As the sun sets, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 3: Boat Cruise, Top of the Falls Hike, and Departure

After breakfast, set out on a boat cruise to the base of Murchison Falls, the world’s most powerful waterfalls. Along the way, spot aquatic wildlife such as crocodiles, hippos, and waterbucks, as well as elephants cooling off near the riverbanks. Witness the awe-inspiring sight of the falls as the mighty Nile squeezes through a narrow 7-meter gorge before plummeting down.

Next, embark on a short but rewarding hike to the top of the falls, where you’ll experience panoramic views of the Devil’s Cauldron, the permanent rainbow, and the breathtaking Uhuru Falls. Take time to capture stunning photos before meeting your driver-guide for the return journey.

Enjoy lunch en route in Masindi Town before concluding the safari with a drop-off at either Kampala or Entebbe International Airport.
